Adae-Kese Festival

 

The Ashanti people of Ghana hold a yearly ceremony “Adae-Kese” to commemorate the day when priest Okomfo Anokye called down from heaven the Ashantis’ Golden stool. In the Adae-Kese festival, people clean their stools and offer food to the gods. The people and the president of Ghana pay homage to the state where the current king and the Golden Stool resides. Every 40 days throughout the year the Adae festival is held, but the main event of the Adae-Kese Festival once a year in January.
